Millard North Places 2 at State

Congratulations to all the Millard North state qualifiers!! We took 8 to state and they all competed very well. We placed 14th as a team with 2 state placers.

-106-6th place-RJ Quandahl lost his first round match and bounced back in dominate fashion winning the next 3 matches to earn his medal. He pinned 2 out of the 3 wrestlers and just missed out on pinning the 3rd by 1 second. He wrestled extremely well to become a 2012 state medalist at the 106 pound weight class.

-138-2nd place-Devon Rupp had a great 2012 state tournament placing 2nd at the 138 pound weight class. Just to get into the finals he had to beat 3 wrestlers who had all beaten him earlier in the season. In all 3 matches he trailed late into the match before pulling off the win by pinning the first 2 opponents. The 3rd opponent took a reversal and ride out with 30 seconds left in the match to send him to the finals. Devon showed great determination and perseverance to become a 2012 Nebraska State Finalist. In the finals he got beat by a now 4x state champion.

Our team wrestled well as a whole. We gained valuable experience to help prepare us for next season. We return 7 out of the 8 qualifiers next year. We regretfully say goodbye to our lone senior Adam DeVries. He wrestled his last match as a Mustang this past weekend. He had a tough draw and lost to 2 of the best in his weight class. He has been a blessing to coach and has been a true leader of this program. He will be extremely hard to replace and will truly be missed. We wish him the best of luck in the next phase of his life and he will always be a Mustang.

On Thursday, November 17, we will be having a parents meeting at 7:00pm in the Mustang Center at Millard North HS. We will introduce all the coaches, discuss the upcoming season, and answer any questions. Please come and join us!!

Blue/Silver Dual

The date for the Blue/Silver Dual has been set for Tuesday, November 22, at 7:00pm. Every wrestler on the team will get at least one match, and many matches will determine our Varsity line-up. Please come out and join us as our wrestlers battle it out for all 14 weight classes. We welcome all to join us!!

The season is just about here!!!

Here are a few dates to keep in mind of upcoming events.

Monday, November 7, we will begin conditioning for all wrestlers Monday-Friday immediately after school. Everyone needs to meet up in the wrestling room. Ware athletic clothes and shoes, be prepared to go outside if the weather is good. Bring wrestling shoes in case we have to do conditioning on the mats.

Monday, November 14, the wrestling season will officially begin. Everyone needs to be in the wrestling room with shoes on and ready to go before 3:30pm. We will condition after practice so bring a pair of running shoes with you. Practice should be done around 6:30pm.

Thursday, November 17, is the initial hydration test. We will do the test immediately after school, before we start practice. You must be close to weight and hydrated to past the test.

Sunday, November 27, we will host the Mustang Wrestling Youth Tournament. All wrestlers will be expected to help set-up on Saturday night and work the tournament on Sunday.

Wrestle offs will be the week of Thanksgiving break. We are still finalizing a date for the Blue/Silver dual and I will post that ASAP. The rest of the wrestle offs will be help on Friday/Saturday of Thanksgiving Break.
